In November 2023, HCAP partnered with Champlain Capital to invest in Simplified Environmental Solutions (SES) to support the company’s continued growth and geographic expansion.
SES is a zero-waste-to-landfill materials management and processing company that designs and manages waste diversion programs to support customer sustainability goals. Through its pre-processing facilities, SES redirects waste streams to achieve 100% landfill diversion and support a circular economy, with 166,000 tons of waste diverted through 2025.

Building Quality Jobs Across the SES Workforce
To support the opening of new facilities, hiring, and becoming an employer of choice, SES has implemented a range of HR and workplace initiatives with support from HCAP based on the company’s Gainful Jobs Approach™ Strategic Roadmap. This has resulted in a 82% increase in quality jobs since the time of investment.
Key initiatives have included:
Implementing annual employee performance and career development reviews
Integrating annual salary and pay raise reviews alongside employee performance reviews
Adjusting pay schedules for hourly employees from bi-monthly to bi-weekly to provide more frequent pay
Updating the company PTO policy to expand available time off and reduce benefit wait time for new hires
Establishing career advancement paths for plant associates and other team members
Providing cross-training on different warehouse operations
